BRIEF

To redesign the office of the CYT in a way that will:

  • improve staff wellbeing
  • increase motivation and productivity
  • enhance the visiting experience for clients and strategic partners who come to meetings at the office.

The design needed to provide a space that the team felt comfortable, empowered and structured enough to work in, to be focused and at the same time to be supportive to their wellbeing.

The office would be somewhere the team looked forward to going in the morning and be proud to invite clients and partners to visit.

SOLUTION

We began with a briefing session which included all members of the office team. These sessions enabled us to ascertain what the team collectively needed and what they liked, providing us with a User Profile for the space.

The User Profiles were used to support the design process, by addressing and ultimately achieving the wellbeing of users. We used an evidence-based approach, allowing our clients to understand the reasons behind the selection of finishes and features and also to direct the design proposals.

The User Profiles of the CYT office team directed the design approach towards a space supporting occupant wellbeing and productivity. We were able to create a design which included the highest levels of comfort, projecting a welcoming demeanour, allowing for authenticity, whilst also presenting a progressive and professional environment. All materials, products and fittings were designed and specified along sustainable criteria (SKA rating compliant). The final design was able to meet the objectives of the Trust: to promote and externalise the nature of their work and achievements.
