property week logoProperty Week published an article on the imminent launch of Ska rating.

The article included a very simple explanation of Ska rating with the following:

Tim Robinson, RICS director with responsibility for selling the project to members, says the aim is to drive up the quality of refurbishments.

Under the Ska Rating system, project managers or developers can determine the green performance of their project against up to 99 measurements in areas such as energy use, waste and pollution. They need to choose more than 20 criteria to achieve accreditation and will need to score 75% for a “gold” standard, 50% for “silver” and 25% for “bronze”.

Each measurement has an individual weighting, so developers could not achieve a gold standard simply by hitting 75% of the easiest criteria.”
