We are pleased to announce that the RICS Ska Product Compliant Label certification has arrived. Grigoriou Interiors have been appointed and approved by RICS to develop and manage the labeling system, the application process, to undertake compliance reviews and issue the label.
A large proportion of SKA Rating Good Practice Measures encourage the specification of products and materials with good environmental performance. The SKA Rating Product Compliance Label helps SKA Rating Accredited Assessors, specifiers and manufacturers by providing a simple way of identifying products that meet individual Ska Rating criteria.
The label formalises the compliance checks that every Ska Rating Accredited Assessor must currently perform against the Ska Rating criteria. It also provides an alternative way of meeting the rationale behind a Good Practice Measure in ways that are equal with the current criteria but not listed.
The label also provides:
- Recognition of third party compliant work such as an EPD or benchmarked label other than the ones listed in the criteria (not excluding them)
- Recognition of the recycled/recyclable content, Energy and Water Technology Lists criteria compliance or other single characteristic claimed by the supplier that is equal, meets or exceeds the Ska Rating criteria.
Benefits for Ska Rating users and the market include…
Assessors· Efficient evidence review· Confidence and reassurance
Specifiers· Streamline product selection· Reduce design research time
Suppliers· Product differentiation· Competitive advantage· Identify areas for improvement
Every product that is compliant will be added to the Ska Rating Product Compliance List which will be updated monthly and available from the RICS Ska Rating website.
We invite you to take a look at an overview of the Label on the RICS Ska Rating website. A guide to the application procedure and downloads for the application forms can be found on the right hand side of this page.

Why was the Ska Rating Product Compliance Label created?
Manufacturers and suppliers have approached RICS and the Ska Rating Technical Committee asking for a way to show compliance with Ska Rating and a wish to publicly associate their compliant products and materials with the benchmark.
Assessors and designers are frequently expressing their hesitation in accepting a new type of evidence or the reliability of data of a potentially compliant product.
Clients and design teams wish to meet the Ska Rating standard or other environmentally friendly standard but have to spend more time finding appropriate products and solutions, which results in higher costs.
RICS wishes to allow the use of the Ska Rating brand but must ensure it is done accurately, reliably and credibly so that it continues to support and strengthen the market’s confidence in the Ska Rating standard.
